WHAT KIND OF RESEARCH METHODS DO I USE?

Theory

Empirical Research

Qualitative Research Method

The qualitative research method I am using to conduct research. For example, conducting desk research and making user interviews to gather data.

Quantitative Research Method

The quantitative research method must be constructed in a way suitable for numerical analysis and easy to visualize.

User Interviewing

User Interviews is a method used for UX information gathering. The interviews target the user audience needs, behaviors, and motivations. This method involves conducting one-on-one interviews with users to understand their experiences and perspectives. Especially important is that the interviewer asks open-ended questions to encourage the interviewee to share their unbiased thoughts, opinions, and experiences. A good user interview helps to uncover hidden needs, focus points, and insights that may not be revealed through other research methods. It is a valuable tool for UX designers to inform their design decisions and create better user experiences.

Field Studies

Field Studies in UX research design refer to the process of observing and recording the behaviors, motivations, and experiences of users in their real-life environments, in situ, without disrupting their normal activities. Field studies can be qualitative or quantitative and involve a variety of techniques, such as ethnographic observation, contextual inquiry, or usability testing. The goal of field studies is to gain a deeper understanding of user behavior and needs by observing them in their natural setting. This information can be used in design decisions, improve existing products and services, and develop new solutions that better meet the needs of users. Field studies provide UX researchers and designers with a rich and detailed picture of user behavior that can be difficult to reach through other research methods, making it an important tool in UX research design.
